Prof. Dr. Khalijah Awang

University Malaya, Malaysia: Natural Product Chemistry

Prof. Dr. Khalijah Awang graduated BSc (Hons) from Waterloo University, MSc from University of Malaya and PhD from Universite Rene Descartes. She is a full professor in Natural Product Chemistry at University Malaya. Her current research interest is on Natural Products Chemistry (Natural Products, NMR, Alkaloids, Biological Activity).

Prof. Dr. M.V. Venkatashamy Reddy is a researcher at Graphene Research Center, Depts. of Physics & Chemistry, NUS Associated with Prof. B.V.R. Chowdari and Prof. K.P. Loh. He is active as an editor at some board and regional journals. His current research interests are on Advanced Functional Materials; Energy Storage materials Physics, Chemistry of Materials, and Thin Film Micro-batteries.

Prof. Dr. Yuji Kubo

Tokyo Metropolitan University, Japan: Molecular Systems based on Self-Organization

Prof. Dr. Yuji Kubo is a Professor of Tokyo Metropolitan University. He joined Kochi University as a research assistant in 1986 and earned a PhD from Osaka Prefecture University in 1990. After a postdoctoral stay (1990-1991) with Prof. J. L. Sessler at the University of Texas at Austin, in 1992 he joined Saitama University as an Associate Professor. He also was a researcher of PRESTO (Precursory Research for Embryonic Science and Technology) under Japan Science Technology Agency (JST) (1997-2000). Since 2008 he has been a Professor of Tokyo Metropolitan University. His research interests include molecular systems based on self-organization.

Prof. Dr. Bauke W. Dijkstra

University of Groningen, Netherland: Biophysical Chemistry

Prof. Dr. Bauke W. Dijkstra is emeritus professor of Biophysical Chemistry at the University of Groningen. His research program is geared towards obtaining insight in the functioning of biomacromolecules at the atomic level by means of three-dimensional structure determinations using X-ray diffraction methods and other biophysical methods. In particular, enzyme mechanisms are being studied. He is member of several honoured organisations (EMBO and KNAW) and editorial boards of scientific journals.

Peter Barnard, Ph.D.

La Trobe University, Australia: Synthesis of coordination complexes

Dr. Peter Barnard studied Bioinorganic Chemistry at Macquarie University (MSc) and University of Sydney (PhD). Since 2009, he is an lecturer in chemistry at La Trobe Institute for Molecular Science, La Trobe University. He is also a member of The Royal Australian Chemical Institute (MRACI Cchem). His research interests including the synthesis and characterization of new metal containing compounds for diagnostic imaging agents (radiopharmaceuticals) and fluorescent probes for imaging and sensor applications.

Dr. Tati Herlina was graduated from Universitas Padjadjaran.  She is actively involved in research cooperation with various overseas institutions, including Osaka Prefecture University (Japan) and Institute for Medical Research (Malaysia). Her expertise area is natural product chemistry, especially natural products from Erythrina plants with anticancer activity.

Dr. Ran Friedman

Linnæus University, Sweden: Computational Chemistry with Specialization on Biomolecules.

Dr. Ran Friedman is senior lecturer (associate professor) of chemistry, and a research group leader. He teaches medicinal and physical chemistry in various courses. In his role as a researcher he is a theoretical chemist, which means that he studies chemistry with the help of computer simulations and modelling. In his research, he applies computational chemistry to study molecular interactions. He is especially interested in biomolecules, and how they interact with ions. Another area of particular focus in his studies is that of drug resistance in cancer.
